The Failure of the Constitution's Protectors Pg 2 (pg1)
This is the new elitism in America, and while I think they understood the type, I’m sure the Founders never took into
A person once asked me how it was that the Constitution could ever bring elitists and the common man together. I told him it didn’
t. It just let’s them carry out their little contests on a harmless stage. The miracle of the Constitution is that it had always kept them
from abandoning one another…until now. That was the handshake. But that is what is taking place now, and to my mind, the
constitutional Protectors have taken the side of their left-wing combatants against a common enemy, the redneck rube. Their
handshake has become as limp-wristed as a French diplomat's.
The word ‘common’ sticks in the craw today every bit as much as it did in the 1960s. Young conservatives define
themselves today almost identically with how bratty spoiled liberals did in those days…by who they are not, which is why I fret so
much about the future of liberty.
You were the largest generation in the history of the world, almost half with college educations and bigger than life self-
images. Of the better educated, almost eighty per cent tilted to the new elitism of me-politics. Their rice bowl and self-image
depended, still depends, on a debased common culture, sort of like Paris under Louis, or Dickens’ London. What’s the point of
being superior if you ain’t got anybody to lord it over? Two, they have to have a compliant common culture where the doors to a
fortune in scrap metal will be closed. Remember mean ol’ Banker Potter’s Bedford Falls in Capra's film? Everyone has to go
back to work broke on Monday morning to make the system work. The Constitution offers a ladder to everyone wanting to get out
of that hole, while the new elitism just keeps the hole warm and comfortable, in a boozy sort of way. But no ladders. This is not
liberalism but something far darker.
You hear this over and over again, that the common man has become so debased he has abandoned his House. He can’
t read a want-ad, let alone a blueprint. It’s the fault of the popular culture, from Madison Avenue, to unions, to the four day week, to
rock and roll, to rap music, to video games to fast food. Ordinary people are lazy, always looking for the easy path. They are slaves
to their own appetites. They are stupid and under-educated. This is all fact….to a
point.
But that this is intentional is also a fact. Most of the Houses in America are split asunder, they are only half a House, and
have very little chance of passing successfully into the next generation. Oh, there will be progeny, but with no Jim’s to snare them.
The Constitution survives only when the majority of Houses are being passed on and moving upward. Moreover, because the
majority of Houses are matriarchal (this also is not an accident) the things a man might have done to create reciprocal relations
with his neighbor in order to protect the House also have passed from memory in many parts of society. As we all know, while the
female is far more vicious in defending her nest than the male, she will only turn and fight once the front door has already been
knocked down. Too damned late. She will not voluntarily send her men folk to defend her neighbor, or to the edge of the town. The
man would…if he were there.
Since the rise of the bureaucratic state the foundations of the House has been under constant assault. The education
door now has so many toll collectors they are hard to count, and the product they deliver is intentionally designed to drive the
House into irrelevance, making sure children know nothing of its foundations, common sense or the shoulders they stand on. No
where is American history taught with enthusiasm.
And as Judge Douglas might have said, the “penumbra” of all the House’s foundation blocks add up to one word,
‘morality’. No House can survive without it, no more than a nation can. I’m not speaking of Christianity here, but of universal
religious truths. Remove that from the foundation of the House and the House is no more…and so is the Constitution. And the
elitist know this…and they smile.
How do some people answer these oppressions? Some people withdraw from the world into a really silly and naïve
realm of religion, where they act like there is no real world out there. They don’t just give the Devil the highway, but the whole
damned county. And they refuse to make common cause with anyone else who smokes, or swears and takes a swig of rye from
time to time, so they stand more or less alone…not understanding that real, not just pretend, martyrdom is not that unthinkable….
or that far down the road. When Christ promised the world to the meek I’m not sure that wasn't a punishment rather than a
reward, but our modern Protector shouts his approval of this retreat from the battle against evil.
Some people keep their kids home to teach. Many are from this first bunch, and it’s not a bad idea in general. Only it
abandons the public schools and the common weal. Why aren’t the Protectors taking back the schools and re-invigorating the
chemistry that once existed between citizens and their schools rather than cheer-leading the home-schoolers? Answer? It’s
easier.
The American House now has a kitchen table to seat thirty or more people, and the man, if there is one, probably can’t
even sit at the head of it. Look at the number of uninvited guests he has to feed. Remember that fellow in Cincinati who pulled the
gun on me? True, he let ‘em in, and they just sort of sidled up to the table with whispers of false promises, then all of a sudden
they wouldn’t leave. Then he moved on around to the side and after awhile all he got was table scraps…like a faithful old blue
tick. Where was that tug at the collar from the Protectors, or the Jims, that told him the devil had come a’calling. Who was there to
show him how give those people the bum’s rush back out the door?
You see, since the common man don’t read anymore, so all this would require face to face intercourse, and a real
handshake with a squeeze…in places Protectors no longer are willing to go.
Most anyone down on his luck will make a contract for his own soul to get shelter and food and work. A person denied
an education will do the same to be able to read. The Communists have been writing those contracts for years with the world’s
poor. But there is a fine print, and the people of Central America seemed better equipped to understand that than our own
Americans. Barely readable at the bottom, it says, ‘This contract shall be binding against your children and your children’s
children, forever and ever, Amen.’ That’s where even the poorest peons drew the line…when and if they are ever given a second
chance to show a little buyer’s remorse. That hasn’t even sunk in yet in America, again, because the Protectors are no where to
be found whispering in their ear.
It took the elitists forty years to snatch the common man away from the Constitution, so I suspect it will take about as
long to snatch him back. I just don’t think anyone is in for the long fight anymore. We can’t even convince ourselves that mass
murderers are all that bad, or worth even one Yankee dollar, or Midwestern life to bring them to a
reckoning.
The handshake between the Protectors must be re-gripped up and down the hill. Once in charge of their House, the
common man and woman will reclaim the high ground on their own accord. I know intellectuals fear populism. I’ve even been
called a populist. But while I agree with their premise about populism, this is not populism. Setting a man and women up to
recapture their House, through the vote, and to do the things required to know what that vote stands for is hardly populist.
As I’ve said elsewhere, the greatest threat to American democracy is women without men and men without willies, for
none of them belong to Houses that will be around much longer anyway. But they vote. And they outvote the common man and
woman 3 to 1 even though the common man outnumbers them in about reverse proportion. That’s an intended result of the
enemies of the Constitution.
All Protectors have to do is light the way back to the blueprint…preferably with a bond fire instead of a flashlight. We need
some fireworks. Me, I’m tired of hearing a lie called a prevarication…or a traitor ‘the gentleman from Pennsylvania.’ I’d even like to
hear a spade called an effing shovel from time to time.
Despite the tragedy of the popular culture, the miracle of the American democracy is that so many out there at the bottom
of the hill are still searching for leadership and guidance back to the House’s foundation. Even though they don’t know it by heart,
or all the founding blocks, they instinctively know that blueprint is still out there and they want help in finding it again. Pascal once
said that there were three kinds of people; the lost who didn’t know they’re lost, the found, and those who were seeking to be
found. He said those who were seeking to be found didn’t know it, but they were already found.
Well, that may be where God and the Protectors have parted company in these days. Where’s the non-com’s? Where’s
Jim?
